TimberTech products are engineered the right way, to last. And many are covered by leading warranties. See full warranty details.

Can SIDELoc be used with TimberTech PRO and EDGE composite deck boards?
No, SIDELoc is ONLY for use with TimberTech AZEK capped polymer deck boards (i.e. the Vintage, Landmark, Arbor, and Harvest collections) and should NOT be used with composite deck boards, including TimberTech PRO (Terrain, Reserve, Tropical or Legacy), TimberTech EDGE (Prime, Prime+ or Premier), or Reliaboard.

Can SIDELoc be used with grooved decking?
No, SIDELoc is only compatible with TimberTech AZEK square-shouldered deck boards.

What tools are required for installing SIDELoc?
All you need to get started is a variable speed drill and the correct SIDELoc Guide(s), sold separately:

  • For standard 5.5″ decking, use the SIDELoc 5-1/2″ Guide
  • For narrow 3.5″ decking, use the SIDELoc 3-1/2″ Guide
  • For wide 7.25″ decking, use the SIDELoc 5-1/2″ Guide with a 7-1/4″ Extension piece

Can SIDELoc be used with Vintage MAX and Harvest MAX products?
SIDELoc 2-3/8″ fasteners can be used to install 1.5″ thick Vintage MAX and Harvest MAX boards. SIDELoc 1-7/8″ fasteners should NOT be used with MAX boards as the shorter screw does not provide enough thread embedment into the joist.

Should I purchase SIDELoc 1-7/8″ or 2-3/8″ fasteners?
SIDELoc 1-7/8″ fasteners are made from 304 stainless steel and suitable for most installations of 1″ thick square-shouldered TimberTech AZEK decking, including narrow, standard, and wide-width boards.

SIDELoc 2-3/8″ fasteners are made from marine grade 316 stainless steel, making them more suitable for corrosive environments and coastal applications. The 2-3/8″ screws are also required for installing 1.5″ thick Vintage MAX and Harvest MAX boards.

Is there anything special that I need to know about using SIDELoc with AZEK narrow (3 ½”) or wide-width (7 ¼”) deck boards?
Two fasteners are required at every board-to-joist intersection, regardless of deck board width. The correct SIDELoc Guide(s) must be purchased to ensure proper screw position and deck board spacing.

Can SIDELoc be used with your TimberTech AZEK line of porch boards (e.g. T&G boards)?
SIDELoc 2-3/8″ can be used to fasten AZEK porch boards (see TimberTech AZEK Porch Boards Installation Guide for more details). SIDELoc 1-7/8″ fasteners and SIDELoc Guides are not compatible with AZEK porch.

Can SIDELoc be used in vertical applications? For example, when using deck boards as cladding on the side of a house or building?
No, we do not recommend SIDELoc for vertical applications (i.e. decking as cladding).

Can SIDELoc be used with PVC or capped polymer decking manufactured by another decking company?
No, SIDELoc was engineered specifically for TimberTech AZEK capped polymer decking. We do not recommend or warrant the use of SIDELoc with any competitive decking product.

I have seen similar fasteners online or at my local lumberyard (e.g. CAMO). Are these fasteners OK to use with TimberTech AZEK decking boards?
No, the CAMO Edge system and similar competitive fastening systems are not compatible with TimberTech AZEK boards. SIDELoc fasteners were designed with a sharp point tip optimized for AZEK boards, feature aggressive reverse threads to prevent pigtails, are installed with automatic 1/8″ board spacing using the SIDELoc Guide, and are covered by TimberTech’s product and labor warranties.
